SRM University celebrated the academic success of its
graduands during the Special Convocation hosted on November 8, 2015 at Dr. T.
P. Ganesan Auditorium, Kattankulathur Campus. It was a moment of proud and joy
for the students to receive their degrees from the Chief Guest of the occasion,
Vice Admiral (Retd.), US Navy, Dr. Ann. E. Rondeau.
The Founder Chancellor, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar, presided over
the convocation ceremony. Dr. Prabir. K. Bagchi, Vice Chancellor, SRM
University, delivered the welcome address and presented the Annual Report,
highlighting the students and faculty achievements in placement, research and
innovation .He in his welcome note said that, at the end of the day we have to
make education relevant to society, for which it has to go much beyond
classrooms. SRM University is not at the top position by accident, but with
constantly being upgraded academic strategy and infra structure. The quality of
education cannot be seen in isolation, but in a context where the society gets
benefited from. he added, promising to enhance quality education at SRM
University. He urged the graduands to contribute in making SRM a globally
recognized university.
Honorable Founder Chancellor, Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar,
declared the convocation open and invited the Chief Guest, Dr. Ann. E. Rondeau
to deliver the convocation address. Dr. Rondeau, in her speech, thanked for the
special opportunity, honour and privilege offered to her by the University. She
appreciated the parents for supporting the students to achieve heights and
asked the students to thank their parents first, as it would be a moment of
celebration for their family, more than them. She spoke about the importance of
choices and decisions, pointing out that, choices in this era are elastic and
dynamic than ever before. Choices show what we truly are. Dig for information
and mine for understanding. Choose, decide, act and deal well, Dr. Rondeau
concluded.
Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Director, Engineering &
Technology, presented to the Founder Chancellor, 1481 candidates of Master of
Technology, 293 candidates of Master of Computer Applications and 5 candidates
of Master of Architecture in person and in absentia to be conferred the
degrees.
Dr.R. Balasubramanian, Director, Science & Humanities,
presented to the Founder Chancellor, 12 candidates of Master of Philosophy in
Education, 29 candidates of Master of Arts, 8 candidates of Master of Commerce,
429 candidates of Bachelor of Sciences, 281 candidates of Bachelor of Commerce,
115 candidates of Bachelor of Computer Applications, 270 candidates of Bachelor
of Education, 41 candidates of Bachelor of Arts, 162 candidates of Bachelor of
Business Administration, 63 candidates of Diploma in Arutsunaignar, 50
candidates of Diploma in Catering and Hotel Management, 106 candidates of
Diploma in Yoga for Human Excellence, 11 candidates of Diploma in Diaspora
Tamil Teacher and 7 candidates of Diploma in Film Acting in person and in
absentia to be conferred the degrees.

Medical, 10 candidates of Master of Science in Biostatistics and Epidemiology,
2 candidates of Master of Science in Clinical Trials, 2 candidates of Master of
Audiology Speech Language and Pathology, 7 candidates of Master of Philosophy
in Clinical Psychology, 151 candidates of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of
Surgery, 98 candidates of Bachelor of Dental Surgery, 8 candidates of Bachelor
Audiology Speech Language and Pathology, 10 candidates of Bachelor of Optometry

in absentia to be conferred the degrees.
Dr.N. Chandraprabha, Director, Health Sciences presented 21
candidates of Doctor of Pharmacy, 1 candidate of Master of Pharmacy, 16
candidates of Master of Physiotherapy, 15 candidates of Master of Science in
Nursing, 55 candidates of Bachelor of Pharmacy, 15 candidates of Bachelor of
Physiotherapy, 14 candidates of Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, 51 candidates
of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and 2 candidates of Post Basic Bachelor of
Science and Nursing to the Chancellor, in person and absentia to be awarded the
degrees.
Dr. Jayashree Suresh, Dean, Management, presented 795
candidates of Master of Business Administration to the Chancellor, in person
and absentia to be awarded the degrees.
The Chief Guest of the occasion, Dr. Ann. E. Rondeau
conferred the degree to the rank holders of various engineering, science &
humanities, medical and health sciences streams. Our Founder Chancellor, Dr.
T.R. Paarivendhar recited the pledge and declared the convocation closed. The
program concluded with the National Anthem.
